Youth is
the blueprint
not the future.
USDY — U.S. Dynamic Youth — is America's boldest youth empowerment network. Free leadership, wellness, career and civic programs for ages 14–29. No fees. No barriers. Just momentum.
We turn potential into paychecks, purpose & power.
Founded in 2008 in Detroit by three youth workers and a borrowed van, USDY (U.S. Dynamic Youth) is now the largest youth-led development network in the country. We believe young people don't need saving — they need stages, stipends, skills and someone who listens.
Today usdy.org connects 34,000 active members, 2,100 trained mentors and 850 schools, libraries and community centers. All programs are free, trauma-informed, and co-designed with our National Youth Council (ages 16-24) — because nothing about us without us.
Close the opportunity gap for Gen Z with leadership, wellness and paid pathways by age 29.
Every zip code has a youth hub where dreams get mentors, money and microphones.
Youth-led • Equity first • Radical welcome • Pay youth • Data + heart • Joy as strategy.

Who can join USDY? Is it really free?
Anyone 14–29 living in the U.S. (including territories). Yes — 100% free. We’re a nonprofit funded by donations, federal youth grants and corporate partners. We even pay you stipends for completing programs ($150–$1,200).
How much time does it take?
2–4 hours/week for 6–12 weeks. All hybrid: in-person at 850 hubs + Zoom + app. Perfect alongside school or part-time job.
Do I get certificate or job help?
Yes. Digital certificate, recommendation letter, LinkedIn badge, plus direct pipeline to 300+ paid internships. Career Launch grads average $19.40/hr starting pay.
Can I start a USDY chapter at my school?
Absolutely — 3 friends + 1 adult ally = chapter. We ship free starter box, training and chance at $500 seed grant. 210 chapters started in 2025.
Is mental health support confidential?
Yes. Peer circles are confidential, licensed referrals are HIPAA-protected. Youth 16+ can access therapy stipends without parental consent in most states — we’ll walk you through options.
How is USDY different from Boys & Girls Club or 4-H?
We love them! USDY is youth-led (our board is 51% under 25), stipend-first, and focused on 14–29 transition to adulthood: money, jobs, policy and healing — not just after-school care.
